Aug 17, 2023 at 8:29 comment added Rushi See. Right in the 1st para there is ...God or Nature.... You can replace my earlier 'universe' with 'nature'. It was just one of many possible definitions of God. And with that I'll step out of this discussion: [I'm no Spinozist]
Aug 17, 2023 at 8:14 comment added user62907 “By God I understand a being absolutely infinite, i.e., a substance consisting of an infinity of attributes, of which each one expresses an eternal and infinite essence.” - Spinoza. This doesn’t mean universe = God.
Aug 17, 2023 at 8:11 comment added Rushi Equivalent to nobody takes Spinoza seriously
Aug 17, 2023 at 8:11 comment added user62907 God = universe isn’t a serious proposition and no one takes that definition seriously. You might as well define God = my hands, God = my legs, God = my poop. Sure, none of these can be denied, but that isn’t a concept anyone takes seriously
Aug 17, 2023 at 8:11 comment added Rushi Even within Christianity, the God of Jesus, of Moses and of Adam are quite different
Aug 17, 2023 at 8:00 comment added Rushi Start with the 1st: Spinoza. The universe is non existent How often would you see this view? [One could make a case for it but that would be quite a fringe viewpoint]. Then there is Native American God is not a noun/ God is a verb. Etc etc
Aug 17, 2023 at 7:36 comment added user62907 What is a well established concept of god whose existence few would deny?
Aug 17, 2023 at 7:29 comment added Rushi That's necessary of course but not sufficient. There are fairly well established concepts of God for which few would deny existence. Spinoza is an extreme which I gave. There are many others. In your case, from your multiple questions against God I'm guessing your God is a personal being who created the universe. But you need spell that out
Aug 17, 2023 at 7:28 comment added user62907 I agree with you but I think this is missing the point of the question. I’ll edit the question and add “assuming the concept is coherent” to it.
