Jun 14, 2020 at 17:56 comment added Hypnosifl Looking at the Black Athena page, it seems like the objections were to some of the more specific claims in the book like the idea that Egypt had conquered part of Greece and established a colony there, and that was the cause of the influence. The more general idea that there was some kind of influence on early Greek philosophy from proto-philosophical ideas in Egyptian religion is not such a fringe claim, see this article for a summary of various scholars who've argued for this.
