Malin is quoting Heisenberg's Physics and Beyond, p 63. I agree that theories become real science based on social mood of scientific communities. The source of theories is still mysterious. I think Malin brings in Plotinus as a way to explain it which is why I'm rereading the book. This would put the source of theories in an atemporal dimension. I wonder if there are alternatives to that. | |
