Nov 13, 2019 at 17:02 | comment | added | Peteris | @MotiRattanGupta the standard discussion about moral virtues brings up various cases when different virtues (that, in isolation, seem "obviously Good") conflict and a situation requires you to choose among them; so either some strict ordering needs to exist, or again objectivity becomes impossible. I don't want to repeat e.g. Kant (which seems quite relevant here) so reading all of that would be a good prerequisite for further discussion.

Nov 13, 2019 at 16:51 | comment | added | Moti Rattan Gupta | @IMil, yes, moral status of acts are subjective while moral virtues like honesty, love, etc. are objective in my thinking.

Nov 12, 2019 at 21:42 | comment | added | Uueerdo | @MotiRattanGupta Regarding "acts might not have a objective moral status but the intentions of individual will have.". How would you apply that idea to an "Angel of Mercy"? ...or any other person who thinks they know what is best for others?
Nov 12, 2019 at 13:47 | comment | added | Peteris | @MotiRattanGupta Stanford Encyclopedia of Philisophy plato.stanford.edu/entries/religion-morality plato.stanford.edu/entries/morality-definition and maybe plato.stanford.edu/entries/kant-hume-morality would be a good starting point for study.
Nov 12, 2019 at 6:28 | comment | added | Moti Rattan Gupta | For 2nd point, I treat moral values not as something like watching a sermon is good, making a home for drunkard's family is good, but like essence in such a way like doing something out of love is good. In such context, an act might not objectively good but the there is value demonstrated by the individual doing the act ,and that value is a good virtue. Thus, acts might not have a objective moral status but the intentions of individual will have.
