Are there any well received philosophers still writing today about politics and democracy in 2017 and/or what may be some ways forward for the international community?

Interesting question. I'm certainly not aware of any, but the key words are "well received." Anyone who writes the truth (or solid, informed opinion) about politics is going to be heavily censored (e.g. virtually ignored) by the media. I suspect there are some people writing some good things about political philosophy out there, but they're simply invisible. To put it in perspective, we once had activists and philosophers like Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali and Carl Sagan. Today, we have ______??? – David Blomstrom Jul 26 '17 at 23:34

The main problem is that Philosophy as a discipline has much lower profile than it did in the early 20th C, so although there are highly regarded contemporary philosophers of politics, they simply don't have the public visibility that they once did. – Mozibur Ullah Jul 27 '17 at 7:58
  • But that does not mean that this may not change in future, even intellectual pursuits have their fashions. – Mozibur Ullah Jul 27 '17 at 8:00
