I've recently read Walter Benjamin's essay “The Author as Producer”. Not having a formal educational background in philosophy, I found it a bit difficult to read. Do you have any suggestions for papers, essays and articles that shed light on this particular essay and perhaps also put it in a larger context of Benjamin's and his contemporaries' thought, the history, the time and place it was written, political motivations, etc. ?
