Of course, there are psychological aspects, you can unify a community or concentrate on your life goals. But really, those things can be obtained by many non-religion connected practics and you can objectively examine what is more effective in which aspect. I'd like to focus on the (philosophical) rationalists believing everything in the universe is scientifically explainable AND you should never rely onto a "miracle" - you shouldn't count with the fact that God can affect your life.
