yesterday | comment | added | Dcleve | Well, Karl Popper considered all life to have emergent consciousness, which was discovered through evolutionary accident, and proved radically useful for survival, by allowing hypothesis testing. Given that even single celled creatures have demonstrated the ability to learn, this speculation is supported by experiment. Nicholas Humphreys also considered all living things to be conscious, again on evolutionary grounds. See "Seeing Red". Lynn Margulis also considered all living things to be conscious, and intentional. | |
