I'd argue it's the basis of our 'default' unreasoned intuitions about how to behave, as it's literally rooted in our biology, in our genes. In crisis, like war, our 'nearest & dearest' will be our first priority, & that's not immoral. The question asks about parameterising, rather than specific dilemmas. & that means looking at the dimensions of our choices. But we should think consistently about our values, & use our resources appropriately, rather than only use moral intuition | |
